Setup global proxy (& authentication) in your android device without rooting - Drony !!!

                         If your company/institution allows you to access the internet only via a proxy server, that adds an extra bit of complication for you to use a Proxy Server (with authentication) that allows to uses internet. The easiest work around for this is to set the relevant environment variables for the different protocols so that they take effect systemwide.



          For this you will have to install an app 'Drony' in your android device.

HowToUseDronyWith Proxy
Set Android OS proxy to point to Drony:
Go to Android OS Settings->Wifi


Long click on active wifi connection. Menu will appear. Choose Modify network.

On the bottom there is option Advanced settings. Turn it on. Scroll down.

Set proxy to manual, localhost 8020 for Drony

Set Drony to connect to other proxy:

Start Drony and go to SETTINGS tab

Go to Wifi and select network where Drony should be active

Change that Proxy type is manual and input hostname or tcp/ip (numbers with dots e.g: 192.168.1.10) , port,
username, password of the proxy where Drony should connect



Start Drony from HOME tab

You are done. All programs that respect android OS proxy settings will go through Drony.
This will work if you have at least android 3.x
